This wasn’t Ms. T’s first time in front of my camera.

She’d already done one boudoir session with me, so when she saw the model call for my More Than Passion Project, there wasn’t a whole lot of Should I? Shouldn’t I? What if I’m awkward?

Her answer was basically: Yep. I’m doing this.

“I had zero hesitations,” she told me.

This time, she wanted to do something completely different. Her first session had already shown her what it felt like to be photographed by me, but for round two, she wanted to push things darker, moodier, and a little outside what she’d done before.

And that’s one of my favorite things about boudoir: there isn’t one version of sexy you have to fit into. Your session can actually look and feel like you.

A Completely Different Boudoir Session the Second Time Around

Before her session, Ms. T had a pre-session consultation so we could talk through what she wanted this experience to look like.

And yes, we talk about outfits and sets and all the fun visual stuff—but this is also where we figure out what you actually want from your photos.

For Ms. T, that meant going darker and moodier than her first session.

“Something dark and moody was so far from what I’ve done before, and I loved that idea.”

The date she’d chosen for her session also carried some emotional weight. Instead of avoiding it, she decided to make the day about herself.

“I picked this day to celebrate myself and make myself the most important person in the room for a few hours.”

Which, frankly, I fully support.

What Do You Wear for a Boudoir Session?

Ms. T wore three completely different looks, which is also a pretty perfect example of why I don’t expect you to show up with some perfectly curated boudoir wardrobe.

Her first look was a black leather bodysuit from my client closet. It gave us the darker, edgier look she wanted and photographed ridiculously well in the red light.

Then she switched into a colorful floral bodysuit she’d brought from home, which completely changed the vibe.

And her final look was a deep navy lace bodysuit she’d owned and loved for years.

“I’ve always loved that piece,” she said. “I can’t wait to see the pictures again and drool over that bodysuit.”

That’s why I like mixing pieces from home with pieces from the studio. Sometimes the thing you’ve owned forever is the thing that makes you feel the most like yourself.

And if finding lingerie in your size is one of the things stressing you out before a session, you don’t have to build an entire boudoir wardrobe first. My Jacksonville studio has a size-inclusive client closet with pieces from XXS–6XL that we can use alongside anything you bring from home.

What If You Have No Idea How to Pose?

Good news: you don’t need to.

Even though this was Ms. T’s second session, she still had a little nervous flutter once it was actually time to get in front of the camera.

Then we started shooting.

“Tiffany breaks everything down so well—it makes it easy.”

That’s basically my entire posing philosophy.

I’m not going to put you in the middle of the room, back away with my camera, and yell “BE SEXY!” while you contemplate escaping through the nearest window.

I demonstrate what I want you to do and guide you through your expression, hands, feet, angles, posture—all of it. If something needs adjusting, I adjust it.

Your body isn’t expected to know how to pose for my camera.

I am expected to know how to pose your body.

And after that initial nervousness disappeared?

Ms. T described the session in two words:

“FUCKING AMAZING.”

I’ll take it. 😂

Seeing Herself Differently at Her Image Reveal

After we finished photographing, it was time for Ms. T to see what we’d created.

Her first reaction?

“Damn, that’s a lot of ass!”

😂

But after the laughter came something a little deeper.

“It made me see myself in a light I don’t get to see myself in much.”

That hit differently.

Because Ms. T wasn’t looking at those photographs and seeing some completely transformed version of herself. She was still looking at her.

Just from a perspective she doesn’t necessarily get to see while she’s busy living her normal life.

“It showed me that I am more than just a wife and a mom—I am also a kickass woman.”

There she fucking is.

Why She Came Back for Another Boudoir Session

There are a lot of things I could tell you about what it’s like to do a boudoir session with me.

But the fact that Ms. T chose to come back and do the whole damn thing again probably says more than I ever could.

Her second session wasn’t about becoming someone else.

As she put it:

“I look like me, but I look like a sexier, badder bitch than I already am.”

Exactly.

And this is something that matters to me, especially when I’m photographing plus-size clients.

Your body isn’t a problem I’m trying to hide with clever posing.

You don’t have to lose weight first. You don’t need to squeeze yourself into whatever lingerie happens to exist in a photographer’s closet. And you definitely don’t have to spend your session apologizing for your stomach, your arms, your thighs, or any other perfectly normal part of having a human body.

My job is to know how to photograph the person who actually showed up.
