Why She Keeps Coming Back to Boudoir

Some clients come into my studio for one boudoir session, have an amazing experience, get gorgeous photos, and check boudoir off their bucket list.

And then there’s this Hype Girl. πŸ˜‚

At this point, she’s been in front of my camera at least eight times between full boudoir sessions and minis. And somehow, no two sessions have looked the same.

But she definitely didn’t walk into her first session knowing she was about to become one of my most frequent repeat clients.

Like a lot of my clients, she had wanted to do boudoir for years. She was nervous about her body, nervous about how she would look in the photos, and nervous about standing in lingerie in front of someone she barely knew.

She booked anyway.

And then she came back.

And came back again.

Over the years, we’ve photographed completely different sides of her, played with new ideas and sets, and watched her relationship with her body change right alongside the photos.

This blog originally started as the story of her first few sessions with me. Now, it’s become something a little bigger: proof that boudoir doesn’t have to be a once-in-your-life thing.

So instead of me telling you why someone would keep coming back for boudoir, I’m going to let her tell you.

Why She Finally Booked Her First Boudoir Session

What made you decide to do a boudoir session?

β€œI have always wanted to do a boudoir session, but never had the courage to do so. I would look at other boudoir photographers and think, β€˜Oh, I wish I could do that,’ but I always had a reason not to.

I had gained a lot of weight in the last few years and was very unhappy with how I looked and had lost all self-confidence. One day I decided to take back control of my life and joined a weight loss program.

I had been following Hype Girl Boudoir for a while and saw the models they had were all different shapes and sizes. I wanted to do a session so bad, but I was terrified.

I finally decided to just go for it and book the session. I wanted to have something to look back on and see how far I had come.”

And I want to point something out here because I know how many women have had this exact thought:

She didn't wait until she reached some imaginary finish line with her body.

She booked the damn session.

What She Was Most Nervous About

What were you most nervous about going into your session?

β€œI was so nervous about how I was going to look in the pictures. I had all these images in my head of what I wanted the pictures to look like, but I didn't think I could pull it off.

I was also nervous about being in lingerie in front of someone I barely knew. I had never done anything like this before and didn't know what to expect.”

That fear of β€œI love these photos, but I could never look like that” comes up all the damn time.

You do not need to know how to pose. You don't need to know what to do with your face. And you definitely don't have to somehow become comfortable standing around in lingerie before you're allowed to book a boudoir session.

That's literally my job.

What It Was Actually Like Being in Front of the Camera

How did you feel once the session actually started?

β€œOnce we started, I was still nervous, but Tiffany made me feel so comfortable. She showed me exactly how to pose and what to do.

She would demonstrate the poses and tell me where to put my hands, how to position my body, and even what to do with my face.

After a while, I forgot I was even nervous and just started having fun.”

This is probably one of the biggest things I wish first-time clients understood before walking into my Jacksonville boudoir studio:

You are not responsible for knowing how to photograph yourself.

I guide you through the whole thingβ€”from your expression all the way down to your toesβ€”because standing there yelling β€œBE SEXY!” at someone would be both useless and deeply fucking awkward. πŸ˜‚

Finding Lingerie That Actually Fit Her Body

How was your experience using the Hype Girl client closet?

β€œThe client closet was amazing. There were so many different options and sizes to choose from.

I was worried that there wouldn't be anything that would fit me or look good on me, but there were so many choices. Tiffany helped me pick pieces that worked for my body and made me feel comfortable and sexy.”

This is exactly why having a genuinely size-inclusive client closet matters to me.

The Hype Girl client closet currently includes pieces from XXS through 6XL, because your wardrobe options shouldn't disappear just because you don't wear a sample size.

And sometimes the thing you swear is going to look terrible on you ends up being the thing you never want to take off.

Seeing Her Photos for the First Time

How did you feel when you saw your images?

β€œI was completely blown away. I couldn't believe that the woman in the pictures was me.

I had spent so much time focusing on everything I didn't like about my body that I had forgotten there were things I did like.

Seeing the pictures made me look at myself differently.”

This is one of my favorite parts of photographing people.

Not because I think a boudoir session magically fixes every complicated feeling you've ever had about your body. That's a hell of a lot to ask from a camera.

But sometimes seeing yourself from a completely different perspective can interrupt the story you've been telling yourself for a long time.

And sometimes that matters.

Why She Came Back for Another Boudoir Session

After her first session, she didn't decide she'd done boudoir once and therefore never needed to do it again.

She came back.

And one of my favorite things about photographing the same person multiple times is that we don't have to recreate the first session.

New outfits. New sets. New ideas. Different versions of the same human.

What made you decide to book another session?

β€œAfter my first session, I knew I wanted to do it again. I had such an amazing experience and loved my pictures.

I felt like a completely different person after my first session and wanted to experience that feeling again.”

And Then Another. And Another.

This is the part the original version of this blog couldn't tell you yet.

She kept coming back.

At this point, we've done at least eight sessions together, including full boudoir experiences and minis.

And I think her own Google review explains better than I ever could why that's significant.

After years of being photographed by me, she wrote that what continues to amaze her is that no two sessions are alike.

That's the goal.

Your first boudoir session doesn't have to be the definitive photographic record of who you are for the rest of eternity.

People change.

Bodies change.

Style changes.

Confidence changes.

Life gets weird.

You can come back because you're celebrating something hugeβ€”or because you have a new lingerie set and want an excuse to wear the damn thing.

Both are valid.

What She Wants Other Women to Know

What would you tell someone who wants to book a boudoir session but doesn't think she has the body for it?

β€œDo it! Don't wait until you lose weight or until you think you look perfect.

I wish I had done this years ago.

You don't have to look like the women you see in magazines. You just have to be you.”

And THAT is why I wanted to revisit this story.

Not because every person who books a boudoir session is going to become a repeat client with eight sessions under her belt. πŸ˜‚

But because her first session started in a place that will probably sound familiar to a lot of women reading this.

She didn't think she had the right body.

She was nervous.

She didn't know how to pose.

She wasn't sure she'd like the photos.

She showed up anyway.

Years later, she's still showing up.

And every time she does, we get to create something different.

Thinking About Your Own Boudoir Session?

You don't need eight sessions.

You don't even need to feel ready for session number one.

If you're nervous about your body, have absolutely no clue how to pose, or have been stalking boudoir photos for years thinking, God, I wish I could do that...

You can.

My private Jacksonville boudoir studio was created for real humans, not professional models, and I'll guide you through the whole damn experience.
