Proving Sheβs Always Been Her | Transgender Boudoir in Jacksonville Florida
Some sessions are beautiful.
Some sessions are powerful.
And some sessions feel like proof.
Miss B traveled from Colorado to step into our studio. Not just for photos. Not just for an experience. But for something deeper.
Miss B is a transgender woman. She has spent years fighting for the right to exist as herself. To express herself. To be seen as she truly is. And she chose to walk into a boudoir studio in Florida, of all places, during a time when being openly transgender feels heavier and more political than it ever should.
That is not something we take lightly.
As a transgender boudoir photographer in Jacksonville Florida, creating a genuinely safe space is not a marketing line. It is a promise. It means respect. It means consent. It means celebration. It means every person who walks through our doors gets to exist fully and beautifully without question.
Miss B did not come to βpretendβ to be beautiful.
She came to prove she already is.
And what unfolded in this Jacksonville Florida boudoir experience was nothing short of explosive.
Before we dive into her answers, letβs say this clearly.
Trans women are women.
Boudoir is for everybody and every body. That includes transgender women, nonbinary clients, queer clients, questioning clients, and anyone who has ever been told they are βtoo muchβ or βnot enough.β
Our studio is and always will be an LGBTQIA+ affirming safe space. No awkwardness. No side comments. No tolerance for disrespect. Just art, celebration, and empowerment.
Miss B trusted us with something sacred. And we are honored beyond words.
What made you decide to do a boudoir session?
When I booked my Hype Girl Boudoir session in December 2022, I didnβt have a big conception of why I wanted to do it. But now I think I have a reason in mind why I wanted to do itβ¦and why I should.
I am a transgender woman, which is to say, I was assigned male at birth and lived most of my life as male. Only in recent years, which is to say the last decade, have I been able to transcend my circumstances of birth and evolve into the woman Iβve been all along. That means my body has been influenced by years of βtestosterone poisoning.β Its proportions are not what most womenβs are, even for those women that approximate my height and weight. Certain details are wrong. And, of course, I have the wrong set of equipment βbelow decksβ (at least for now). Yet there are those who still perceive me as beautiful. Quite a few people, in fact.
Now is a very tenuous time to be transgender. All across the country, conservative states are passing new laws that infringe upon the rights of transgender people. This is especially true in Florida, home of Hype Girl Boudoir, where Governor Ron DeSantis (aka βRon DeSatanβ), his eyes on supplanting Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for President in 2024, has pursued many policies which are advertised as βprotecting children,β but seem aimed at completely outlawing transgender people. Here in Colorado, I am fortunate that the state protects my civil liberties. But it still makes me uneasy.
That is, ultimately why I want to do this: To show the world that transgender women can be as beautiful as any other women. To humanize us in the eyes of others.
Yes, this is a political statement. But, in this day and age, letβs face it: My entire existence is a political statement.
What made you decide to hire me as your photographer?
Tiffany and her staff did the best job of making me feel comfortable with the idea of doing a boudoir shoot. I'd previously been a member of another studio's VIP group, but I wasn't ready for that then, and I left it in tears. Tiffany got me over that hump, and convinced me to actually take advantage of he Black Friday special.
How did you feel about the consultation?
It was good to speak with Tiffany live, even over Zoom! She did a great job of outlining the process and making me feel at ease as the time came to do it. It left me even more eagerly anticipating the shoot than I was before!
How were you feeling the week leading up to your session?
I was dealing with a lot of last-minute details about packing up for my flight to Jacksonville, so I was pretty busy. Also, I had just recently entered into a relationship with another woman, so a lot of what I felt is, "What is my girlfriend going to think about these pictures?" But I definitely had a lot of anticipation as I got to Jacksonville and to my hotel there.
Now that you've had your own photo shoot, how was it?
It went smoothly and efficiently, and I'm pleased that Tiffany was pleased with my performance as a model! She took my physical limitations and worked around them effectively to create the best possible portfolio of images. Her suggestions helped me figure out exactly what she should do to portray me in the styles I wanted. Her creativity with lights really helped enhance the "pop princess" pictures in my photoshoot, a couple of which look like they should be album covers!
How did you feel about having your hair and makeup done?
The hair and makeup was extraordinary! Can you believe this is the first time I've ever worn false eyelashes? When I saw myself in the mirror, I was all, "I'm all sexy!" I felt like a princess during the process! (Which I kind of am. I mean, I've got crowns and everything!)
Is there anything I could do that would make this experience completely perfect?
Um...install a Star Trek beam transporter between the studio and Denver? :) Seriously, this experience was worth the trip and then some! And I got an adventure out of it besides!
Any other thoughts or suggestions you'd like to tell me about?
You ask me to give you five stars on Facebook. I will do so, but I wish I could give you seven stars, three galaxies, two black holes, and a never-ending stream of "f**k yeah"s!
What was going through your head seeing your images for the first time?
Many thoughts, ranging from "Oh!" to "Oh yeah!" to "Woah!" to "WOW!" to "Boom!" to "OMG, my girlfriend is gonna flip when she sees this!" The overall thought was, "It's unbelievable. I think I've actually accomplished what I set out to do. I'm as beautiful and sexy as any cis woman that ever stepped through these doors."
Do you feel like the flow I did during the reveal helped you?
Very much so. I appreciate that I got to kind of pace myself during the reveal, and during the process of winnowing down the images that "stood up off the screen" to the ones that will go into my girlfriend's gift.
βI'm going to speak here to transgender women who think they might want a boudoir session done. If you really want to look like a beautiful, sexy woman, and capture those images for posterity, Tiffany's your woman. Yes, I know the studio is in Florida, aka "The Belly of the Beast," but, if there's anything that'd be worth braving the "Do Not Travel" advisories for the state for, it's this experience. Hands down. (And really, is it Tiffany's fault that she lives in a state with a jerkass governor?)
Deciding to do it was a matter of personal conviction, but deciding on Tiffany as my photographer, rather than one closer to home, was a matter of how comfortable and welcome she made me feel, even as a member of her VIP group on Facebook. My confidence in her never wavered, through the consultation to the day of the shoot itself. She works with top hair and makeup artists that turned me into something far beyond what I've ever been before. And then she took that person, stuffed her into a variety of sheer outfits, and took photos which can only be described as, "explosive."
I have successfully proved that trans women can be every bit as beautiful and sexy as cis women. And Tiffany helped supply the proof. Sisters, I urge you to take the chance if you can.β -Miss B
Miss B walked into this session with conviction. She walked out with proof.
Proof that her body is beautiful. Proof that her femininity is powerful. Proof that she belongs exactly as she is.
And that is what boudoir is about.
This studio will always stand for visibility. For safety. For autonomy. For joy. We are here for transgender women who want to see themselves reflected in strength. We are here for anyone who has ever questioned if they are βenough.β
You are not too tall. Too broad. Too different. Too late. Too political. Too complicated.
You are worthy of being seen.
If you are a transgender woman considering a boudoir session and wondering if you will feel safe, welcome, and celebrated here, the answer is yes.
