What If I Have Nothing to Wear? A Guide to Our Boudoir Client Closet
One of the biggest things clients worry about before their boudoir session is what the hell they're going to wear.
Maybe you don't own lingerie. Maybe you've never bought lingerie in your life. Maybe you've started shopping and everything you ordered looked completely different on your body than it did online. Or maybe you've stared at approximately 700 bodysuits and somehow become less sure of what you like than when you started.
You might be wondering whether we'll have anything that fits you, whether you're supposed to know what looks good on your body, or whether you need to show up with three perfectly planned outfits ready to go.
You don't.
That's a huge part of why we have the Client Closet at our Jacksonville boudoir studio.
Our Client Closet is a massive collection of lingerie, robes, accessories, shoes, statement pieces, and other goodies available for our clients to use during their sessions. We carry sizes XXS through 6XL, and using the closet is included in your experience.
You don't have to build a lingerie collection just to have a boudoir session.
What's Actually in the Boudoir Client Closet?
A shit ton of stuff.
The closet has grown over the years because every client is different. Some women walk in wanting black lace and leather. Someone else wants soft and romantic. Someone wants bright colors and sparkle. Someone wants more coverage. Someone wants considerably less coverage.
You'll find things like:
Bodysuits
Bra and panty sets
High-waisted bottoms
Bralettes and underwire pieces
Lace and mesh
Robes
Leather and strappy pieces
Harnesses
Fishnets
Body jewelry
Gloves and other accessories
Heels
Statement pieces
We also have different colors, textures, cuts, and levels of coverage because there isn't one singular boudoir aesthetic.
If you're dark and moody, I don't want to shove you into something pink and frilly. If you love sparkle, let's find the sparkle. If you're a black-on-black-on-more-black person, trust me, I understand.
The goal isn't to make you look like a boudoir client. The goal is to make you look like you.
But What If Nothing in the Client Closet Fits Me?
This is probably one of the biggest fears I hear, especially from women who already have a difficult relationship with shopping.
Our boudoir Client Closet ranges from XXS through 6XL. We intentionally carry different brands, cuts, styles, and sizes because lingerie sizing is frankly all over the damn place.
A large in one brand can fit completely differently from a large in another. You might need one size on top and another on the bottom. You might try a bodysuit in your normal size and discover that it's way too short through the torso.
None of that means your body is the problem. Sometimes the outfit just doesn't fucking fit.
That's why we try things on.
One of my clients, Ms. K, explained it perfectly:
“Buying clothes has always been hard for me. I've had a large chest since I was a kid and it always seems IMPOSSIBLE to find something that fit my chest and the rest of my body. I couldn't believe how many pieces from the client closet actually fit! Tiffany was able to just look at me and grab pieces that made me feel so beautiful. I was honestly SHOCKED!”
You don't need to walk in knowing your magical lingerie size. We'll figure out what actually fits.
You Don't Have to Know What Looks Good Yet
A lot of clients have never purchased lingerie before their session. How the hell are you supposed to know whether you like bodysuits, bralettes, high-waisted sets, leather, lace, mesh, structured cups, or something completely different if you've never tried any of it?
You aren't.
During your consultation, we'll start talking about your wardrobe and overall session aesthetic. I'll ask you questions about what you like and what you don't like. Do you want darker or lighter? More modest or more slutty? Do you love a particular color? Is there a color you absolutely hate? Are you into leather, flowers, lace, sparkle, something cozy, or something dramatic?
We start collecting those little pieces of information and building ideas from there. Then, when you're actually at the studio, we can try Client Closet pieces on.
You might discover that the thing you thought you'd love isn't your favorite at all. You might also put on something you NEVER would have picked for yourself and immediately understand why I pulled it.
Ms. P said:
“Picking something to wear for my shoot was one of my biggest worries and I'm so grateful for the Client Closet! I found several pieces to wear that I would have never chosen myself because I have zero sense for what looks best. Multiple sessions in with Hype Girl and my favorite pictures are those where I'm wearing pieces from the client closet! 10/10 would recommend utilizing it!”
That's one of my favorite parts of having the closet. You get to experiment without having to buy everything first.
Try the Damn Outfit
Sometimes I'll pull something and you'll look at me like I've completely lost my mind. That's okay. Try it anyway.
I'm not saying you have to wear something you hate or push yourself past a boundary. But sometimes seeing something hanging on a rack and seeing it actually styled on your body are two completely different experiences.
Ms. B experienced exactly that:
“Shockingly, my favorite outfit was the completely backless piece I wore in my library set. I was terrified of that piece when Tiffany pulled it out of the client closet for me, but by the time we got to it, I was in love with how it made me look and feel.”
And Ms. J had a similar experience with one of our statement robes:
“The second outfit I wore during my session was my favorite, and all from the client closet. My light aesthetic with the ‘murder’ robe was my awakening. As a mother, I felt like it showed how powerful I am, how fierce I am. It was a stunning piece. I thought it would be too much for me but the way it showed that side of me was breathtaking.”
Sometimes the wildcard wins.
What If There Are Parts of My Body I'm Self-Conscious About?
Tell me. Seriously.
You do not need to pretend you've reached some magical level of self-love where you adore every inch of your body before you're allowed to have a boudoir session.
If you genuinely don't want to see your midsection in photographs, that's useful information. We can look at bodysuits, high-waisted bottoms, robes, shirts, and other pieces that give you more coverage. If you don't want your arms exposed, we can look at long sleeves, robes, and other options.
But we're also going to talk about whether you actually need something completely hidden or whether it simply isn't your favorite part of yourself.
There are also plenty of things we can address through posing rather than clothing. Boobs, thighs, butts, back rolls, and so many other things clients worry about can look completely different depending on how I pose you.
Wardrobe is one tool. Posing is another. We're not going to build your entire session around hiding you.
Ms. H said her favorite Client Closet outfit gave her exactly the balance she wanted:
“My first outfit (the blue underwire top) was from the client closet, and the one I felt most confident in during my session! I feel like it flattered my body and hid certain areas of my body that I'm self conscious about.”
That's the goal. Not deciding what you're supposed to hide, but listening when you tell me what YOU want.
Bodysuits Are Kind of My Favorite
I'm not subtle about this. I freaking love bodysuits for boudoir.
They follow your figure, show off your curves, boobs and butt, and can give you more coverage through your stomach than a two-piece if that's something you want.
We have different cuts, styles, fabrics, and levels of coverage because one badly fitting bodysuit does not mean you “can't wear bodysuits.” Sometimes you need more torso length. Sometimes you want a lower leg opening. Sometimes you want something sheer. Sometimes you want long sleeves.
The fun part about the Client Closet is that you can actually try different options instead of buying five bodysuits online just to discover you hate four of them.
Robes, Body Jewelry, Heels and All the Extra Shit
The Client Closet isn't just lingerie. We have robes, body jewelry, harnesses, gloves, heels, and other accessories that can completely change a look.
Our robes are especially fun because they give us movement and drama without requiring you to completely change outfits underneath. Some are soft and romantic. Some are decidedly not. And yes, the murder robe lives here.
We also have body jewelry and statement accessories for clients who love a little extra sparkle or drama.
As for heels, they're completely optional. If you're a shoe girl, absolutely play in the shoe collection or bring your favorites from home. If you're not a shoe girl, don't force yourself to become one for your boudoir session. Barefoot photographs beautifully too.
Shoes are accessories, not a boudoir requirement.
What About the Angel Wings?
We also have our statement Angel Wings. They're big, dramatic, ridiculous in the best way, and they immediately change the entire energy of a photograph.
The wings are an add-on rather than part of the standard Client Closet experience, so if they're something you're interested in, let us know while we're planning your session.
Can All Three of My Boudoir Outfits Come From the Client Closet?
Technically? Absolutely.
Your Full Experience includes three outfits, and all three could come from the Client Closet. But here's my anxiety talking: what if you get here and hate everything I own?
I have a shit ton of stuff, but style is personal. So even though you absolutely could build your entire wardrobe from the Client Closet, I usually recommend bringing at least one outfit of your own that you already know you're comfortable in.
That doesn't even have to be lingerie. Bring your favorite bodysuit. Bring a bralette and underwear set. Bring your partner's shirt. Bring your favorite concert tee. Bring something that feels like you.
Then we can raid my closet as much as we want without your entire wardrobe plan depending on falling in love with something here.
And don't worry about limiting yourself to exactly three options. If you want to bring three things, cool. If you want to bring ten, cool. If you want to drag your whole damn closet in here, go for it.
I'd rather have too many options than not enough.
Do I Need to Buy Lingerie Before My Boudoir Session?
Nope.
If you want an excuse to shop, I fully support your decisions. But you do not need to spend hundreds of dollars building a lingerie wardrobe you're never going to wear again just because you booked a boudoir session.
You can bring things you already own. You can use the Client Closet. You can mix your pieces with ours.
And if you DO want to shop, don't start by asking what someone with your body type is supposed to wear. Start with what you like.
What colors are you drawn to? What textures do you like? Do you keep looking at bodysuits? Are you obsessed with sparkles? Do you want black everything? Do you secretly want the completely ridiculous strappy thing?
That's much more useful information.

That's really the whole point.
You don't need to know exactly what you're going to wear before you book. You don't need to own lingerie. You don't need to know what lingerie looks good on your body. You don't even need to know yet whether you're a lingerie person.
We'll talk about what you like and what you don't like. We'll consider how much coverage you want, what you're comfortable seeing in your photographs, what sets you're excited about, and what kind of vibe we're creating. Then we'll play dress-up.
Some things will be an immediate no. Some will be an immediate yes. And every once in a while, the thing you side-eyed when I pulled it off the rack will end up being your favorite outfit from the entire session.
That's why the Client Closet exists. Not because you need me to decide what looks good on your body, but because having a shit ton of options makes figuring out what feels like YOU a whole lot easier.
