Gothic Goddess Energy in Virginia | A Virginia Boudoir Experience with Hype Girl

Throwing it back to one of our gothic Airbnb boudoir sessions in Virginia and I still get chills thinking about it.

Dark walls. Moody lighting. Lace. Shadows. Main character energy.

Miss H came in ready to treat herself for her birthday, but what unfolded during this Virginia boudoir experience was so much deeper than a celebration shoot. It was healing. It was powerful. It was the kind of session where you watch someone see themselves clearly for the first time.

When she later said, β€œWait… that beautiful model is me?” I knew this one was special.

Let’s talk about it.

What made you decide to do a boudoir session?

I decided to treat myself to a session for my birthday this year.

What made you decide to hire me as your photographer?

I had been in the FB group since 2020, and really enjoyed the vibe you put off, both in your group interactions and in the composition of your photos. You have a rare gift.

How did you feel about the consultation?

I was instantly at ease, like I'd known you for years! It was more like a coffee catch-up than a formal consultation; it was super chill and exactly the right mix of business and chattiness

How were you feeling the week leading up to your session?

I was nervous and stressing a little bit but also so excited! I had seen so many pics others in the group had done and I was hoping I'd be transformed into a stunning creature I didn’t recognize just like them.

Now that you've had your own photo shoot, how was it?

This session was everything I'd hoped for, and then some! I felt like a movie star all day.

How did you feel about having your hair and makeup done?

I felt like I was at a spa. The ladies were so nice and kind and attentive, and they did SUCH a fabulous job. They were consummate professionals and quite charming.

Is there anything I could do that would make this experience completely perfect?

It's already a perfect experience. From booking through reveal, the process is seamless and the experience is flawless. Y'all have NAILED IT!

What was going through your head seeing your images for the first time?

So, I clicked on the link and saw the album cover and thought, "aww, I love the model on the cover. She's lovely." Then it dawned on me: THAT BEAUTIFUL MODEL WAS ME! What?! How?! When did the inner glow become an outer glow? What manner of sorcery is this?

As I clicked through the images, I realized I am actually that siren, that goddess, that queen, that empress of divine power and femininity the camera and Tiffany had found inside me and drawn out. Each change of an angle, a room, an outfit, an expression, a pose, revealed a different side of myself I hadnt noticed before. I kept saying, "I cannot believe this is me!" and, "holy crap, I'm hot!" to the endlessly patient and encouraging Marcella, because I really couldnt believe I was capable of being so transformed. I looked ethereal, otherworldly, and moderately intimidating, without filters, without a ton of editing, just excellent lighting and expert camera operations.

Do you feel like the flow I did during the reveal helped you?

Absolutely! I was able to narrow down my choices to the number allowed by my selected package relatively quickly, and I didnt feel rushed or pressured in any way.

β€œI had a boudoir session previously with a different company, and when I saw that Hype Girl was coming to my area on my birthday, I knew it was kismet. I've walked through some really devastating situations in the last several years and really needed the empowerment boudoir is renowned for bringing. I was a bit apprehensive as I had felt a little let down by the previous boudoir company I used, but I'd also seen the magic in other's photos from Hype Girl and I was excited for my own session.

A little background: I am a former ballerina and currently a recovering anorexic. I was quite isolated through my childhood and early adulthood and I've never been happy with my body or my personality as I learned early on that anything less than someone else's idea of perfection just wasn't good enough. My friends have always said I was beautiful and amazing; I looked in the mirror and within myself and just couldn’t see what they were on about.

But, with this session, with Tiffany's extraordinary gift of bringing out the love and light that's soul-deep within, I was transformed. I saw and felt what those who love me see and feel. I understood why others are drawn to me; I think I finally figured out how to love myself, and why I should. These sessions are about so much more than stunning, sexy, and empowering photos, though those are wonderful. These sessions are healing, in a manner of speaking. As females, we often shoulder other's wounds, helping others to bear the hard things in life, and it chips away at our sense of self and power. When we finally are able to see what those who love us see, however, it's a salve and a binding that helps to knit our weary and wounded feminine souls back together, stronger and brighter than before.

If you are on the fence, please allow my words to sway you. It's not inexpensive, because it is a business and those do run on money, but I encourage you to save and plan. Give up a Starbuck's run each week, or decide not to wander Target (guilty of this one myself!) or cut back here and there with the goal in mind to book a session in 6 months or a year so you, too, can see what those who love you get to behold when they look at you. And I'm thankful there are payment plans because I definitely couldn't afford this all at once! Your girl has Cristal tastes on a Natty Lite budget!

You wont regret it. You are absolutely amazing and you deserve to see that fact for yourself through this experience and the incredible photos that yes, really are you <3 β€œ -Miss D

What Miss H described in her experience is exactly why I believe boudoir is about so much more than photos.

Yes, the images are stunning. Yes, you’ll feel like a movie star. Yes, you might walk away saying β€œholy crap, I’m hot.”

But what really matters is that shift. The moment you see yourself through a lens that is not distorted by old narratives, unrealistic standards, or years of self-criticism.

This Virginia boudoir session was booked as a birthday gift. It turned into a reclamation of identity. A reminder of power. A healing moment.

And the best part? We are coming back to Virginia next year.
