Boudoir FAQs: Everything You Want to Know Before Booking
Posing, privacy, outfits, pricing, photos, and all the other shit you're probably wondering about.
If you're thinking about booking a boudoir session, there's a good chance you have questions.
A lot of them.
Maybe you've never done anything like this before and have no idea what actually happens once you walk through the studio door. Maybe you're worried about posing, what you're going to wear, whether your photos will end up online, or whether you need to magically become confident before you're allowed to book.
You don't.
After years of photographing boudoir here in Jacksonville, I've heard just about every question you can imagine. And I'd much rather answer the awkward question than have you sitting at home talking yourself out of something because you weren't sure how it worked.
So let's get into the questions we hear all the damn time.
I've Never Done Boudoir Before. Is That Normal?
Extremely.
Most of the women walking into my studio aren't professional models, and plenty of them have never done a boudoir session before. You aren't expected to know how any of this works before you get here.
You don't need to know how to pose, what to do with your face, which studio sets you want, exactly what you're wearing, or what kind of makeup photographs best.
That's what we're here for.

Do I Need to Know How to Pose?
Nope.
Please don't spend the week before your session standing in front of your mirror practicing poses you found on Pinterest.
I'm going to direct you from your head to your toes, and that includes your facial expressions.
I'll tell you where to put your hands, what to do with your legs, when to point your toes, where to look, how to move your chin, and what to do with the weird little fingers.
Some poses will feel completely normal. Some will feel weird as hell. That's okay.
Your job isn't to know how to pose.
That's my job.
Do I Need to Feel Confident Before I Book?
Absolutely not.
I talk about this all the time because I think women spend way too much time waiting to become confident enough to do things they already want to do.
You can be nervous and book anyway.
You can be self-conscious and book anyway.
You can have parts of your body you don't particularly love and book anyway.
At Hype Girl, we're much more interested in courage over confidence.
You don't have to walk into the studio feeling like the hottest bitch alive. You just need enough courage to walk through the door.
We'll work from there.
What Should I Wear for My Boudoir Session?
Start with what you actually like.
I don't believe in giving women arbitrary lingerie rules based on their “body type.” I care much more about your personality, aesthetic, comfort level, and what you actually want to see when you get your photographs back.
Maybe you're dark and moody. Maybe you're soft and romantic. Maybe you love leather, lace, florals, sparkles, black everything, or bright colors.
We can also consider your insecurities without making your entire wardrobe about hiding your body.
Your Full Experience includes three outfits, but that doesn't mean you can only bring three things. Bring options. We'll figure out what actually works together.

Do I Have to Wear Lingerie?
Hell no.
Boudoir does not require lace, garters, thigh highs, or anything else traditionally considered “boudoir.”
Bring an oversized T-shirt. Your favorite concert tee. A button-down. A dress. Jeans. A crop top. A jersey. A sweater. Swimwear. Your partner's shirt.
Or wear nothing.
The point is creating something that actually feels like you, not dressing you up as somebody else's idea of sexy.
What to Wear That Isn't Lingerie
What If I Don't Own Any Lingerie?
Then don't buy any unless you want to.
Our Hype Girl Client Closet is included with your experience and has a shit ton of lingerie, robes, accessories, shoes, and statement pieces in sizes XXS through 6XL.
Technically, all three of your outfits could come from the Client Closet.
I still recommend bringing at least one outfit of your own that you already know you're comfortable in because my anxiety says, “But what if you get here and hate everything I own?”
You can bring your own things, use mine, or mix the two.
Where Should I Buy Lingerie or Boudoir Outfits?
There isn't one magical store that's right for everyone.
Where I send you depends on your size, budget, aesthetic, bust, what kind of coverage you want, and whether you're looking for something soft and romantic or something that makes you look like you might murder a man in a very expensive hotel.

And remember: read reviews, look at customer photos, and try the damn thing on before your session.
Is Professional Hair and Makeup Included?
Yes.
Professional hair and makeup is included with the Full Experience and happens right here at the studio at the beginning of your session.
You don't need to bring your own makeup products, lashes, or a professional-level understanding of what the hell you want done to your face.
If you know exactly what you want, amazing. Bring inspiration and tell us.
If your direction is basically, “I want sexy but not TOO sexy and maybe kinda dark but I don't know,” that's okay too.
Our professional hair and makeup team is really good at asking questions and helping you figure out your look while you're sitting in the chair.
And you are still in control. If you hate something, tell us. This is your face.
Will You Share My Boudoir Photos Online?
Not without the appropriate written permission.
Regular clients are not required to sign a model release to book a Hype Girl session. You can keep your photographs private.
If you're open to sharing, we'll talk through those options. Some clients are comfortable sharing more than others, and that's okay.
Model Calls are different because image-sharing permission may be part of the specific model-call agreement in exchange for the offer or bonuses involved.

Will You Photoshop or Retouch My Body?
Yes, I edit your photographs.
No, my goal is not to rebuild your body into somebody else's.
The easiest way I can explain my editing philosophy is that I want to edit you the way your friends see you.
Temporary shit goes. Bruises, blemishes, rashes, scratches, and other temporary things are cleaned up.
Things that are actually part of your body, like scars, stretch marks, and tan lines, can be removed or softened if you request it. I'm not automatically erasing them because I've decided they shouldn't exist.
Then everything gets an overall polished finish. Think of it like a makeup finish for the body rather than changing your actual body into something unrecognizable.
Posing also does WAY more than people realize. Things like boobs, thighs, stomachs, butts, arms, and back rolls can look completely different depending on posing, angles, lighting, and wardrobe.
I want your finished photographs to look like you.
Just photographed really fucking well.
How Many Outfits and Sets Do I Get?
The Full Experience includes three outfits and three studio sets.
You choose your sets with my help if you need it, and we'll finalize everything before we start photographing.
Your three outfits don't have to follow some formula either. You don't need one bodysuit, one bra and panty set, and one non-lingerie look unless that's actually what you want.
You can also bring more than three outfit options and we'll narrow things down together.
How Long Is a Boudoir Session?
For the Full Experience, plan on spending roughly 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with us.
A typical morning looks something like:
9:00 AM: Hair and makeup
10:00 AM: Finalize outfits, Client Closet pieces, sets and session plan
10:45 AM: Start photographing
12:30 PM: Finish posing and start wrapping up
1:00 PM: Done
Every session can vary a little, but that gives you a good idea of what to expect.
How Many Boudoir Photos Will I Receive?
We typically shoot and deliver 100+ finished images with the Full Experience.
You're not coming in, taking 100 photographs, and then being told you have to choose ten while the rest disappear.
Your finished digital gallery is included.
Are Digital Photos Included?
Yes.
The Full Experience includes your finished digital gallery.
Your images are delivered through an online gallery where you can view and download them once editing is complete.
No surprise “Oh, you wanted the actual pictures too?” situation over here.
Do I Have to Choose My Favorite Photos?
Nope.
This is something that has changed about the Hype Girl experience over the years.
Our standard Full Experience no longer involves a same-day reveal where you have to sit down and narrow your photographs into a smaller digital collection.
Same-day reveals may occasionally happen as part of a specific promotional experience, but they're not our normal process.
You get your finished gallery.
How Long Does It Take to Get My Boudoir Photos Back?
Usually about one to two weeks.
That's when I'm doing the editing we talked about above and getting your complete gallery ready for delivery.
Once everything is finished, you'll receive your online gallery and can download your photographs from there.
Can I Buy an Album, Wall Art, or Other Boudoir Products?
Absolutely.
We offer physical products including albums, wall art, and boudoir gifts for clients who want something tangible in addition to their digital gallery.
Products are optional and can be purchased at any point. If you decide you want something, email us and we'll help you figure out what you're looking for.
You don't have to make every product decision on session day.
How Much Does a Boudoir Session Cost?
Our Full Experience is $2,500.
A 10% retainer reserves your session date, and 50% of your balance is due by your session.
Because pricing, payment options, promotions, and availability can change over time, I recommend checking the Boudoir Experience page for the most current details rather than relying on an old screenshot or blog post you found floating around somewhere.
Where Is the Hype Girl Boudoir Studio?
Our private boudoir studio is located on the Northside of Jacksonville, Florida, less than 10 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport.
It's approximately 2,000 square feet with multiple rooms and sets, our Client Closet, hair and makeup area, and plenty of space for us to create completely different looks during one session.
This isn't a hotel room we're renting for the afternoon or a corner of somebody's living room.
It's our space, built for this.
